Social Worker in Schools (SWIS) is a school based service for tamariki in the 5 -12 age group.
The Social Worker is placed within specific schools, and is available to support tamariki and whanau with issues outside the classroom, that may be affecting the well-being of a child, and the child’s ability to learn. The SWIS programmes are a part of the Toiora Whanau.
SWIS provide education programs that focus on empowering tamariki and whanau.

- Seasons for Growth
- Life skill Programs
- Tamariki Celebrations
- Matua Parenting
SWIS liaise with schools and other agencies. They provide links to other services including:
- Parenting Support
- Sexual Abuse Awareness
- Anger Change
- Holiday Programs
- Complimentary Health
- Counselling
