What do we do?
We provide our tamariki aged 0-5 years old and their whanau, with a safe, nurturing, relaxed and fun learning environment.
Play is an essential part of our children’s development so we have created an enriched environment that assists our children in reaching their full potential.
Our Staff
We have a trained, qualified, registered teacher that heads this initiative. She brings with her 6 years primary school experience and 6 years Early Childhood Education experience.
Our staff are involved in ongoing professional development to ensure that they have the most recent theory, policy and practice in Early Childhood Education.
Our Kaupapa
We are predominantly a Maori speaking environment and our service has a Maori focus, however is not specific to only Maori children and families.
He Hikinga Manawa Puna Kohungahunga follows the New Zealand Early Childhood curriculum Te Whariki and our guiding principles are that of Tikanga Whakatipu Ririki—a strengths based Maori parenting programme. (These values are printed on the inset of the brochure).
Our Beliefs
He Hikinga Manawa Puna Kohungahunga provides our tamariki with an opportunity to learn through play and allows the whanau (parents/caregivers) to observe and be apart of their child’s learning and development.
We value the input of whanau (parents/caregivers) and recognise that Puna is an extension of home.
We have an open door policy and encourage all interested parties to come in and join the fun.
What to bring:
- A change of clothes
- A drink bottle (preferably water as we encourage healthy refreshments)
- Something to share for morning tea e.g. crackers, fruit, dry biscuits.
How much does it cost?
This is a FREE service to all participants.
Nau mai, haere mai!
